Friends of New Jersey Jewish Cemeteries, Inc.

(a.k.a. Friends for Preservation of Middlesex County Jewish Cemeteries, Inc.)

WHO WE ARE

We, a group of concerned citizens with roots in the Jewish community of Middlesex County, formed Friends for Preservation of Middlesex County Jewish Cemeteries, Inc. in 2005 because we cared about the futures of the cemeteries originally owned by Congregation Shaarey Tefiloh in Perth Amboy (which are now owned by the Shaarey Tefiloh Cemetery Association). We felt — and still feel — a strong sense of responsibility to ensure the preservation of these cemeteries in a manner that will honor and respect those interred there. Our goals were and still are to (1) raise sufficient funds to finance the necessary work and (2) restore and maintain these cemeteries forever.

In 2019, Friends for Preservation of Middlesex County Jewish Cemeteries, Inc. expanded its mission and changed its name to Friends of New Jersey Jewish Cemeteries, Inc., in order to achieve the same charitable goals for Newark Jewish Cemeteries, United Cooperative Cemetery Association, Galloping Hill Cemetery Association/Beth David Memorial Park, and Samptown Jewish Cemetery — and possibly others in the future. We are now a much larger group of concerned citizens with roots in the Jewish communities of New Jersey, and we are concerned about the futures of all of New Jersey's Jewish cemeteries.

Friends of New Jersey Jewish Cemeteries, Inc. is a federally tax-exempt organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3). All contributions are tax-deductible as provided by law.
